Annemieke | SSI Divemaster
Annemieke made her first dives in Curaçao in 2002 and returned to the island with her family in 2023. She now lives there and turns her passion for diving into action as a divemaster at Porto Mari Dive Center.
I made my first dives in Curaçao in 2002, when I took my Open Water course here during a holiday. That moment marked the beginning of a lasting love for the underwater world. In the years that followed, I dived in various places, including the challenging waters of South Africa, but Curaçao always remained a special place for me.
In 2023, I returned to the island with my family. During that trip, my three daughters also obtained their Open Water certification at Porto Mari. What started as a holiday grew into a new chapter: at the end of 2025, we moved to Curaçao for an indefinite period.
For me, diving is more than a sport. Underwater, I find peace, focus, and connection—a place where the sounds of the world above disappear and you can be completely in the moment. I would love to share that experience with others.
In the Netherlands, I worked as a physiotherapist, a background that has given me a keen eye for the body, movement, and safety. Now, I am turning my passion for diving into a professional next step as a divemaster, guiding and supporting guests and students during their diving adventures.
