Mariana| SSI Divemaster Trainee

Hi, I’m Mariana, 27 years old and from Santiago, Chile. I’ve been traveling my whole life thanks to my mom being a flight attendant, so being on the move and discovering new places has always felt natural to me. I originally studied journalism, but quickly realized my passion lies elsewhere.

In 2022, I went on a snorkeling trip in the Dominican Republic and completely fell in love with the ocean. Something changed in me that day, and since then I’ve been focused on learning everything I can about diving. In a short time, I completed my Open Water, Advanced Open Water, and Rescue certifications, and I’m now excited to join the Porto Mari Dive Center team for my Divemaster training.

I’m a very creative person — I love dancing in different styles (including some more expressive ones), painting, and simply moving and expressing myself. That same sense of freedom is exactly what I find underwater.

My favorite marine animals are sharks and octopuses, and I hope to see a cuttlefish one day.
