Divemaster - short internship

Turn your passion for the underwater world into a professional step and become an SSI Divemaster. During this course, you will deepen your knowledge of dive theory and learn how to safely guide certified divers and assist with courses. This way, you will grow under supervision into a confident professional with worldwide career opportunities.

As a Divemaster, you make the transition from recreational diver to professional. You not only learn more about diving, but especially how to take responsibility underwater—for yourself and for others.

Theory and Practice

Through the Science of Diving module, we dive deeper into the theory behind diving. You gain more insight into physics, physiology, equipment, and environmental factors—knowledge that helps you better understand and assess situations.

In practice, you learn how to:

• give dive briefings

• assess dive sites

• safely guide certified divers

• assist with introductory dives and courses

• maintain oversight under various conditions

Step by step, you grow into your role. What may feel daunting at first soon becomes familiar. Under the guidance of our instructor team, you develop the skills and confidence that belong to a professional diver.

What are you allowed to do as an SSI Divemaster?

With your certification, you may:

• work in the dive industry worldwide

• lead guided dives for certified divers

• assist and supervise during courses and dive activities

• teach snorkel and skin diver programs

For many people, this is the beginning of a career in the diving world. For others, it is an intensive deepening of their hobby. In both cases, it opens up a new world of possibilities.

Duration and Structure

With us, the Divemaster training is not a short course, but a period in which you truly become part of the team. On average, count on 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your experience, availability, and pace.

During these weeks, you fully participate in the daily life of the dive center. You assist with courses, guide certified divers, give briefings, help with organization, and learn how everything comes together behind the scenes.

Step by step, you take on more responsibility. You grow not only in skills, but also in confidence and oversight.

The goal is not to get certified as quickly as possible, but to prepare you for working as a professional—anywhere in the world.

What do you need?

To start the Divemaster training, you need:

• at least 40 logged dives (60 to become certified)

• a minimum age of 18 years

• an SSI Open Water and Diver Stress & Rescue certification (or equivalent)

• experience with night diving, navigation, and deep diving

• a valid First Aid certification (React Right or equivalent)

• a medical statement showing you are fit to dive

A New Phase

The Divemaster course is more than just the next step in your training. It is a different way of looking at diving. You learn to think ahead, take responsibility, and read situations. And perhaps even more importantly: you learn how to help others become just as enthusiastic as you were during your first dive.
