In collaboration with Dive In Curaçao, we take you to the spectacular Oostpunt – a remote and protected nature reserve that is only accessible by boat. This is diving at its purest: pristine, tranquil, and of exceptional quality.
We meet at the old fishermen’s harbor of the Spanish Water, or we pick you up at your accommodation. On site, we assemble our dive gear and transfer everything onto the colorful catamaran of Dive In Curaçao.
The Petra is a comfortable 38-foot (11.6 m) twin-engine catamaran from Cheetah Marine, equipped with two powerful 300 hp engines. The boat is specially built for dive trips and accommodates 15 to 18 divers, ensuring there is always plenty of space and tranquility on board. Thanks to the stable catamaran design, spacious deck layout, easy entry via sturdy ladders, and all modern navigation and safety equipment, the Petra is ideal for relaxed and safe boat dives around Curaçao.
Once everything is ready and everyone is on board, we sail via the Spanish Water towards the eastern tip of the island.
According to experts, this area is home to one of the healthiest coral reefs in the Caribbean. The coastline beyond Fuik Bay is a protected nature reserve, which means: little human impact and a rich, vibrant reef. We don’t need to dive deep here to enjoy lush soft corals, impressive sea fans, and large schools of colorful fish. Depending on weather and current conditions, we dive at sites such as Guliaw, Black Rock, Hamrok, and Punt Kanon. When the sea is exceptionally calm, it is sometimes also possible to dive beyond Oostpunt on the north side at Tarpon Bridge.
After the first dive, we enjoy a relaxed surface interval in the sheltered waters of Awa di Oostpunt or Fuik Bay. Here you can snorkel among unique sea stars, relax on board, and enjoy a simple lunch. Afterwards, a second drift dive follows, for example at Booby Trap, Smokey’s, or Katie’s Paradise. We let the current carry us and are picked up wherever we surface, while our dive flag safely guides the boat to us.
What makes this boat trip extra special: there is no maximum dive time of 45 minutes. With the captain’s permission, we dive as long as air and conditions allow. Dives of 60 to even 70 minutes are absolutely no exception here.
You don’t need to be a very experienced diver to join this boat trip. However, we do ask that you have dived recently, or do a check dive with us at Porto Mari beforehand. This way, we ensure that everyone feels comfortable and can fully enjoy this special experience.
Around 2:30 PM we expect to be back in the harbor — with beautiful dives, plenty of relaxation, and a unique Oostpunt experience to remember.
