Discover the house reef of Porto Mari in a unique way: with a seascooter. During this guided Sea Scooter Experience, you will snorkel along the reef while the scooter effortlessly propels you through the water. This way, you can explore larger parts of the reef and discover more of Curaçao's marine life.

Along the beach of Porto Mari, the coral reef begins just a short distance from the shore. Here, you snorkel above colorful coral formations and sandy plains where plenty of marine life can be found.

Together with a guide from Porto Mari Dive Center, you snorkel along the reef and over the sandy plains in front of the beach. The sea scooter helps you explore larger sections of the reef without much effort, allowing you to see more of the underwater world.

Along the way, the guide points out fish, corals, and other animals you might otherwise miss. With a bit of luck, you may spot turtles, barracudas, or schools of tropical reef fish swimming among the coral. We also pass by our coral nursery, where we show you our efforts for coral restoration and conservation.

The Sea Scooter Experience is a relaxed and playful way to discover the marine life of Curaçao—even if you have never snorkeled with an underwater scooter before.

What to expect

The activity begins with a short briefing on the beach. Your guide will show you how the sea scooter works and what to pay attention to while snorkeling.

Afterwards, you enter the water together and follow the reef along different parts of Porto Mari’s house reef. With the help of the scooter, you can move calmly along the reef while observing marine life.

The guide stays nearby throughout the activity to assist and point out animals.

After about an hour, you return to the beach.

What you can see

Porto Mari’s house reef is known for its diverse marine life. During the Sea Scooter Experience, you often see:

• tropical reef fish

• parrotfish and surgeonfish

• barracudas

• sea urchins

• turtles (with a bit of luck)

• sometimes stingrays

• coral formations
• sponges

Because the scooter helps you snorkel further along the reef, you can often discover more of the reef than during a regular snorkel tour.
