Do you want to stay underwater longer, have shorter surface intervals, and feel fitter after diving? With the SSI Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty, you will learn to dive with enriched air (Nitrox) — a breathing gas with a higher oxygen content than regular air.

During this specialty, you will learn what Nitrox is, when to use it, and the benefits and considerations involved. You will gain insight into oxygen limits, maximum operating depths (MOD), exposure calculations, and learn how to safely plan Nitrox dives using dive computers and tables. You will also learn how to properly analyze and label a Nitrox cylinder.

Nitrox is especially popular for multiple dives per day, such as during boat dives, liveaboards, and dive vacations. Less nitrogen absorption means more comfort, increased safety, and often more enjoyment underwater — especially on repetitive dives.

Upon completion, you will receive the SSI Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty certification, which counts towards the free recognition ratings Specialty Diver, Advanced Specialty Diver, and Master Diver. This specialty is a valuable addition for almost every recreational diver and also provides a strong foundation for further technical or professional training.
