SSI Recognition Cards – your growth path as a diver
As you dive more, not only does your experience grow, but also your confidence and understanding underwater. When you take specialties and log dives, you automatically become eligible for various SSI recognition ratings. These are awarded free of charge as soon as you meet the requirements — you don’t have to do anything extra for this.
For many divers, these recognitions form a valuable thread throughout their development. They show step by step how you build knowledge, experience, and confidence, from your first specialties to becoming a well-rounded and experienced Master Diver.
Do you want to further develop yourself after your Open Water Diver certification?
By completing two specialty courses and logging a total of 12 dives, you qualify for the recognition certification Specialty Diver. This way, you gradually broaden your experience, discover what you truly enjoy underwater, and continue to build your skills and confidence.

Do you want to take your development as a diver one step further?
By completing four specialty courses and logging at least 24 dives, you qualify for the recognition certificate Advanced Specialty Diver. You will deepen your knowledge, broaden your experience in various diving environments, and continue to develop more control and confidence underwater.
A great milestone for divers who take their passion seriously and want to continue developing their skills in a broad range.
Do you want to achieve the highest level of recreational recognition?
By completing at least five specialty courses (including Diver Stress & Rescue and Deep Diving) and logging 50 dives, you qualify for the Master Diver recognition card. This title demonstrates that you are broadly trained, have extensive experience, and are a well-rounded diver at the recreational level.
This recognition highlights your broad training, extensive experience, and dedication—a valuable reward for your development as a diver.
Do you want to immerse yourself in underwater life and share what you see with others?
By combining Dive Guide (or Divemaster) with the specialties Marine Ecology, Blue Oceans, and two additional SSI Ecology specialties, you qualify for the Marine Guide recognition rating. This title shows that you not only have experience as a guide, but also possess broad knowledge of the marine ecosystem.
This recognition highlights your commitment to conservation, your knowledge of underwater life, and your ability to make divers aware of what is happening around them—a valuable asset for anyone who wants to understand and share the story of the reef.
In addition, SSI also recognizes dedicated divers based on their number of logged dives.
