The SSI Scuba Diver course is a shortened version of the Open Water course. Ideal if you have little time but still want to earn a diving certification.
The SSI Scuba Diver course is essentially about half of the Open Water Diver course. This training is designed for those who want to learn to dive but lack the time to immediately follow the full Open Water program.
With us, the Scuba Diver course is organized as a two-day course, consisting of four training dives. Just like the Open Water course, you combine theory (via SSI e-learning) with practical exercises and open water dives. You will learn the basic skills of diving and get acquainted with the underwater life of Porto Mari.
After completing the Scuba Diver course, you are allowed to dive up to 12 meters, always under the direct supervision of a professional. It is a great stepping stone, but also a more limited certification than the Open Water Diver.
That’s why we usually recommend — if at all possible — to choose the Open Water Diver course right away. With just one extra day and two additional dives, you can turn the Scuba Diver course into a full Open Water Diver certification, which allows you to:
dive independently with a buddy
to a depth of up to 18 meters
worldwide, without mandatory supervision
So, see the Scuba Diver course mainly as a stepping stone or temporary solution. It’s ideal if you have two days available now, but actually want more. You can always easily upgrade to Open Water Diver later — with us, even immediately afterwards if your schedule allows.
Are you still unsure whether a multi-day course is right for you? Then a two-hour introductory dive is an accessible way to first experience what it feels like to dive.
We are happy to help you find what best fits your schedule, experience, and wishes — and will guide you step by step to the level you want to achieve.
