The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course is considered by many divers to be one of the most valuable and educational courses in recreational diving. In this course, you will learn how to recognize, prevent, and manage stress, both in yourself and in others, and how to act effectively when a dive does not go as planned.

The focus is not only on resolving emergencies, but especially on prevention. You will learn to recognize potential problems early, plan better, and dive more consciously. This increases your safety, confidence, and sense of responsibility—both as a buddy and as a leader within a dive team.

During the course, you will practice realistic rescue and assistance scenarios, such as helping tired or panicked divers, dealing with unconscious divers underwater and at the surface, and safely performing rescues from shore or in the water. There is also attention to stress management, communication, and teamwork.

The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course combines theory, practical exercises, and scenario training, and challenges you both physically and mentally. Many divers find this course intensive, but also extremely motivating and enriching—not only for diving, but also beyond.

The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course is offered in combination with the SSI React Right course, so you not only learn how to handle a diving emergency, but also acquire the right first aid, CPR, and oxygen administration skills. Together, these courses provide a complete and practical foundation to act adequately when every second counts.

Upon completion, you will receive the SSI Diver Stress & Rescue certification, which counts towards the free recognition ratings Specialty Diver, Advanced Specialty Diver, and Master Diver. The course is also an essential step towards professional training, such as Divemaster and Instructor.
