Get more out of your dives by truly understanding your dive computer with the SSI Computer Diving Specialty. Dive smarter, safer, and with more control.
The dive computer is an indispensable tool for every modern diver — but only if you know how it works and how to use all its functions correctly. The SSI Computer Diving program is specifically designed to familiarize certified divers with the possibilities and benefits of diving with a computer.
By thoroughly understanding how your dive computer operates, you not only increase your diving safety, but also make planning, executing, and evaluating your dives easier and more insightful. During this specialty, you will learn how dive computers work, what information they provide, and how to interpret this data before, during, and after your dive.
The program explores the features and capabilities of various dive computers. You will learn to understand and adjust settings such as conservatism, alarm signals, and gas settings, as well as how to correctly monitor limits, ascent rates, and safety stops. Many divers use their computer only for basic information — this specialty helps you get the most out of your investment.
The SSI Computer Diving Specialty can be taken as a standalone theoretical program (at a reduced rate), but can also be combined with one or two open water dives. During these dives, you will immediately apply the theory in practice and get acquainted with different types of dive computers, for example with wireless tank transmitters. Depending on the chosen setup, the course can take up a large part of the day, with plenty of room for in-depth learning and personal guidance.
Upon completion, you will receive the SSI Computer Diving Specialty certification, which counts towards the free recognition ratings Specialty Diver, Advanced Specialty Diver, and Master Diver. An essential specialty for every diver who wants to dive with confidence and understanding in the modern diving world.
