Being able to navigate well underwater makes you a more confident and safer diver. With the SSI Navigation Specialty, you learn how to dive with purpose, find your way, and always return to the right spot — without stress or uncertainty.

During this specialty program, you will learn all the skills and knowledge needed to navigate effectively in two open water dives. You will work with both a compass and natural navigation techniques, learn to estimate distances, and practice leaving from and returning to a designated point. You will also be introduced to simple navigation patterns that you can immediately apply in practice.

In addition, you will learn how to combine different navigation techniques to plan your dives better and experience them more consciously. This not only increases your sense of orientation, but also sharpens your observation skills, improves your dive safety, and helps you see and experience more during every dive.

Upon completion, you will receive the SSI Navigation Specialty certification, which counts towards the free recognition ratings Specialty Diver, Advanced Specialty Diver, and Master Diver. An essential specialty for divers who want to get more control, freedom, and enjoyment out of their dives.
