Tugboat & Director’s Bay

Discover two iconic dive sites on Bandariba in one relaxing trip: the shallow wreck of Tugboat and the impressive wall of Directors Bay — varied, tranquil, and full of history.

Join us as we explore the eastern part of Curaçao, also known as Bandariba: a region full of history, sheltered bays, and impressive underwater landscapes. During this trip, we combine two iconic dive sites that together provide a varied and relaxing day of diving.

We’ll pick you up or meet you on location, whichever is most convenient for you. The first dive will be at the famous dive site Tugboat. As the name suggests (tugboat = sleepboot), there is a small shipwreck lying on the bottom here. The wreck rests at about 5 meters deep, making it ideal not only for divers but also perfect for snorkeling.

The wreck has been here for almost 30 years and is now beautifully covered with various types of corals and sponges. A bit further and deeper, you’ll find a stunning vertical wall that you can enjoy diving along. Because this dive site is located in a sheltered bay, you’ll experience virtually no waves or current—all the ingredients for a relaxing and accessible dive.

The second dive will be at Directorsbaai, the former private beach of the Shell director and later the Dutch royal family. This spot combines a tranquil, almost historic atmosphere above water with a spectacular underwater landscape.
The absolute highlight here is the vertical wall, full of grooves, crevices, and small openings where all kinds of marine life love to hide. It’s no wonder Directorsbaai is considered one of the most beautiful shore dive sites on the east side of the island.

The total duration of this trip is about 4 hours, but we can also opt for a longer break, for example, for a relaxing lunch. Depending on conditions, we sometimes do the trip in reverse, or make it a drift dive from Directorsbaai to Tugboat. It’s also possible to do the second dive at other beautiful sites in the area, such as Turtle Island or Mari Pampoen.

For this trip, you need at least an Open Water certification.
Don’t have one yet? No problem—you can start with an introductory dive (2 hours) or go straight into the SSI Open Water course (3 days).

✨ A versatile dive trip full of history, tranquility, and impressive walls—perfect for those who want to discover the east side of Curaçao underwater.
