Many of the world’s most impressive dive sites are wrecks. These unique structures tell stories from the past and at the same time attract abundant marine life. With the SSI Wreck Diving Specialty, you will learn how to explore these fascinating dive sites safely, responsibly, and with respect.

During this specialty, you will combine theory with practical sessions in the water. You will learn how to make safe non-penetration wreck dives around wrecks and artificial reefs, to a maximum depth of 30 meters. The focus is on planning, situational awareness, positioning around the wreck, and preventing risks such as damaging the wreck or losing orientation.

During the open water dives, you will practice these skills in real-life situations, learning how to deal with currents, limited passages on the exterior of wrecks, and the effects of depth on your dive. This way, you will gradually build confidence and get more out of every wreck dive—without unnecessary risks.

Upon completion, you will receive the SSI Wreck Diving Specialty certification, which counts towards the free recognition ratings Specialty Diver, Advanced Specialty Diver, and Master Diver. This specialty also provides a solid foundation for further development in wreck diving, such as the Advanced Wreck Diving Specialty.
