Take your wreck diving to the next level with the SSI Advanced Wreck Diving Specialty. Learn how to make controlled and safe limited penetration wreck dives.

Wrecks are among the most fascinating dive sites in the world. They combine history, mystery, and an unparalleled wealth of marine life. While the SSI Wreck Diving Specialty teaches you how to safely explore wrecks from the outside, the SSI Advanced Wreck Diving Specialty takes an important step further.

In this advanced program, you will learn how to safely make limited penetration dives into wrecks and artificial reefs, to a maximum depth of 30 meters. Through a combination of theory and practical water sessions, you will develop the skills needed to enter a wreck in a controlled manner and always safely find your way back out.

An important part of this specialty is working with lines and reels. You will learn how to properly lay a line, how to maintain orientation in a confined environment, and how to manage risks such as poor visibility, loss of reference, and limited space. The focus is on planning, discipline, situational awareness, and teamwork.

During the open water dives, you will put these techniques into practice. We dive on the famous wreck of the Superior Producer and/or one of the other boat, car, or airplane wrecks that Curaçao has to offer. This way, you will experience what it is like not only to view wrecks, but also to truly explore them.

Upon completion, you will receive the SSI Advanced Wreck Diving Specialty certification, which counts towards the free recognition ratings of Specialty Diver, Advanced Specialty Diver, and Master Diver. This specialty is ideal for experienced divers who want to deepen their wreck diving skills and take the step towards more technical wreck environments in a controlled way.
