From enthusiastic diver to future professional

Do you want to grow further to become a divemaster but don't yet have the right experience to start? In our pre-divemaster internship, you will gather all the experience and qualifications you need within a few weeks to start your divemaster training.

Do you dream of becoming a Divemaster one day, but you're not quite there yet? Then our Pre-Divemaster internship in Curaçao is the ideal stepping stone. This program is specially designed for divers who aspire to go professional but do not yet meet all the entry requirements for the Divemaster course. Together, we will work towards that goal step by step.

The bridge to Divemaster

To start the SSI Divemaster course, you need sufficient diving experience and several specific specialties. Many candidates are still missing:

• enough logged dives

• Night & Limited Visibility specialty (or proven experience with night diving)

• Deep Diving specialty (or proven experience with deep diving)

• Navigation specialty (or proven experience with underwater navigation)

• React Right (First Aid, incl. emergency oxygen and AED, not older than two years)

• Diver Stress & Rescue

The Pre-Divemaster internship combines these components into one logical program. You gain experience, deepen your knowledge, and grow in responsibility—without immediately facing the pressure of a professional role.

Tailored, not a standard package

Every candidate starts at a different point. That’s why this internship is always customized. Do you already have 30 dives? Then the focus will be different than for someone with 10 dives of experience. Do you already have certain specialties? Then we’ll build on what you have. What we do expect:

• at least Open Water certified

• at least 10 logged dives

• motivation to progress towards Divemaster

From there, we’ll continue together with you.

More than just making dives

During this period, it’s not just about “counting dives.” You will learn to:

• plan more consciously

• navigate more comfortably

• gain deeper insight into dive safety

• recognize and manage stressful situations

• operate more independently underwater

You will grow technically, but also mentally. You will develop the kind of self-confidence needed to later take responsibility for other divers.

The Pre-Divemaster internship also gives you the chance to get a taste of life at a dive center in Curaçao. You’ll see how courses are run, how instructors work, and what’s involved in professional diving. For many candidates, this is the moment when the dream becomes concrete: Do I really want this? And often, the answer is yes.
