Become part of a dive team and grow into a professional. You combine training and practice, work at the dive center, and earn back your Divemaster program while gaining valuable experience in Curaçao.
Live the dive life. Become part of the team. Build real experience. Grow into a professional.
Do you want to not only earn your SSI Divemaster, but truly live and work in a dive center on Curaçao? Then this extended Divemaster internship is more than just a course — it’s an experience.
Instead of a program lasting just a few weeks, you choose a period of 4 to 6 months, depending on your level and experience. During this time, you fully participate in the daily rhythm of the dive center — not as a student, but as a team member in training.
This is not a “quick course.” This is diving, working, learning, and growing. Every single day.
You will complete the full SSI Divemaster course, including the Science of Diving module and all required practical components.
But what truly sets this Divemaster internship on Curaçao apart is the hands-on experience. You will:
guide certified divers
assist with dive courses and introductory dives
give dive briefings
assess dive sites
help with planning, logistics, and organization
learn how a professional dive center really operates
Where recreational diving was mainly about your own experience, the focus now shifts. You learn to think ahead. Keep an overview. Take responsibility. Act professionally.
You grow not only in skills — but also in mindset.
This extended Divemaster internship is ideal if you have more time than budget — and are truly willing to commit yourself.
You will essentially receive your SSI Divemaster course free of charge. In exchange, you work an average of five days a week in the dive center. This way, you earn back the cost of your training and simultaneously gain valuable work experience in the dive industry.
Learning and working are fully integrated. You’re not “beside” the team — you are part of the team.
Because you’ll be joining for a longer period, we also arrange your accommodation as part of the deal — or you receive compensation for it.
That means: living, working, and diving in Curaçao. Meeting new people. Building close bonds. Truly experiencing the island.
For many participants, this period becomes one of the most formative phases of their diving career. Feel free to check out our Hall of Fame to see who has gone before you.
After completing your Divemaster course, you may:
work worldwide in the dive industry
lead guided dives for certified divers
assist and supervise during dive courses
conduct snorkel and skin diver programs
For some, this is the start of an international career. For others, it’s a solid foundation towards Instructor or another professional step.
To start your Divemaster internship in Curaçao, you need:
at least 40 logged dives (and 60 to be certified)
a minimum age of 18 years
an SSI Open Water and Diver Stress & Rescue certification (or equivalent)
experience with night diving, underwater navigation, and deep diving
a valid first aid certification (React Right or equivalent)
a medical statement showing you are fit to dive
If you don’t have this experience yet, we can combine your Divemaster internship with a pre-divemaster module, which can include the React Right and/or Diver Stress & Rescue course.
For people who not only want to dive, but want to experience what it’s like to work in a dive center in Curaçao. For those who want to learn to take responsibility. For those who truly want to become part of a team.
It’s not a fast track. It’s a conscious choice to invest time in your development. Do you have less time available? Then our short Divemaster internship might be a better option.
