Instructor Training Course

Ready to make diving your profession? With the SSI Instructor Training Course (ITC), you take the decisive step from experienced diver to professional dive instructor — and open the door to an international career underwater.

If you want to further develop your career as a dive professional, the SSI Open Water Instructor qualification is a logical and powerful next step. To reach this level, you follow the Instructor Training Course (ITC) and complete the process with the official, two-day SSI Instructor Examination (IE).

The instructor pathway consists of two clear phases: first you obtain the Assistant Instructor qualification, followed by the Open Water Instructor qualification.

We organize the first part of the ITC entirely in-house at Porto Mari Sports. Over approximately six intensive days, you will work together with our (Assistant) Instructor Trainer and other candidates on everything needed to become a strong, confident instructor. You will practice:

• teaching in the classroom,

• demonstrating and assessing skills in the water,

• guiding students in realistic training scenarios.

The focus is on didactics, safety, communication, and professional conduct — exactly what you need to be able to teach courses independently in the future.

For the second part, we collaborate with an experienced partner Instructor Trainer. Ultimately, an official SSI Instructor Certifier will come to assess your abilities during the two-day instructor examination (IE). Upon successful completion, you will receive the internationally recognized SSI Open Water Instructor certification.
