Lionfish zookeeper & spear

For certified lionfish hunter divers, we have spears and also zookeepers available for rent.

The spear we use for hunting on Curaçao is a so-called pole spear or Hawaiian sling, consisting of a plastic or aluminum pole with an elastic rubber band at one end and a three- or five-pronged spear tip at the other end. To safely carry the spiny fish, we use a so-called zookeeper: a sealed but water-permeable (preferably transparent) PVC pipe with a funnel.
