Danniek | Social Media Coordinator & Assistant Instructor

Hi hi, I’m Danniek.

I’m from Groningen and have a background in social pedagogical care and special youth care. During my studies and work in Drenthe and Limburg, I gained experience in childcare, youth care, and care for people with disabilities, where I worked with children and young people with a wide range of support needs.

This background provides me with a strong foundation in the diving world. Guidance, safety, clear communication, and building trust are central to everything I do, and especially help me when guiding beginner divers in a calm and safe learning environment.

Just before the corona crisis, I left on a world trip and ended up in Curaçao via Cuba, where I worked as a divemaster for several months. My plan was to continue traveling, but at Porto Mari I met my husband Geert and corona threw a spanner in the works. We returned to the Netherlands together, with the intention of coming back—which finally became reality five years later. In the meantime, together with our dog Dushi, we are back on Curaçao.

At Porto Mari Dive Center, I coordinate the social media and am also active as an assistant instructor, regularly filling in. With my people-oriented and organizational skills, I contribute to a professional, accessible, and personal diving experience.
