Robin did his DM internship at Porto Mari from March to August 2024 and returned in the summer of 2025 for a working holiday. He now lives in Amsterdam and works in finance, but Curaçao and the diving life continue to attract him.

Hey, I’m Robin!
I’m from Tilburg and studied Business Economics and Finance at Tilburg University. During my studies, I interned at the high-tech company ASML in Eindhoven, and I now live in Amsterdam where I work for the Swedish energy company Vattenfall. Still, the sea always has a certain pull — and Porto Mari even more so.
From March to August 2024, I did my Divemaster internship at Porto Mari, a period during which I learned a lot and truly became part of the team. Life as a Divemaster, the daily dives, the atmosphere on the beach, and the trips around the island made a big impression, and it quickly felt like a second home.
In the summer of 2025, I came back for a working holiday. Simply because life as a Divemaster is secretly hard to beat. Guiding dives, the people, the sea, and the island’s rhythm — it remains something special and keeps drawing me back every time.
Although my daily work now takes place in a completely different world, diving remains an important part of who I am. Curaçao, Porto Mari, and the team still feel like a place where I can slip right back into the familiar rhythm, as if I never really left.
